English study is mandatory in NSW from Kindergarten to Year 12.
English at Pittwater High School is the dynamic study of written, spoken and visual texts that allows students to explore themselves and their world.
The English staff aim to provide students with an engaging and challenging environment to foster an appreciation of literature and develop skills to enable students to experiment with ideas and expression. They work to become independent lifelong learners who work collaboratively and reflect on their learning.
Through the study of English, students continue to develop their critical and imaginative faculties to write and speak logically and creatively and broaden their capacity for deep cultural understanding. As students' command of English develops, they are able to question and challenge texts, preparing them to become critical and empathetic citizens of an ever-increasing complex world.
